SECONDARY SCHOOL TEACHERS’ CUP.

Sports has always and will always be a fun way of proving one’s self. It can even be seen as a ‘peaceful struggle’ of dominion. It is an event that unites mind, hearts and souls. With how obvious this has become, the ministry of secondary education in Cameroon under the leadership of PhD Pauline Nalova Lyonga has put in place a national event that they title the “MINESEC CUP”.

According to the ‘document’ signed and released by the minister of secondary education, dated the 15th of January 2024, the said MINESEC CUP is a competition between secondary schools.

The document refers to schools as structures or administrations.

The ‘document’ lays down the modalities for institutions and persons who are desirous of participating in the MINESEC CUP.

When will the competition take place?

The exact dates for matches are not fixed and may be programmed by the various organising committees at every given level. Nonetheless, it was made clear that the national finals are scheduled for the Easter holidays which should go from the 28th of March 2024 to the 15 of April 2024 according to the document endorsed by the Cameroon prime minister’s office on the 28 of August 2023 fixing the calendar of academic activities for this academic year.

What are the sports event involved?

The document from the ministry of secondary education makes it clear that there will FOOTBALL for males and HANDBALL for females.

Rewards and Prizes.

Such an event can’t go without a form of motivation. The ministry so far has made clear indication on the exact rewards and prizes to be expected by the participating institutions and individuals. It was however clear that “at the end of the games, prizes will be awarded to the best players and teams according to the revenue raised by the organising committee”.
