2022 CONCOURS IN CAMEROON

2022 CONCOURS IN CAMEROON

The academic year is about to end in Cameroon. As students are preparing for end of year national Exams, they can’t help but think of their future. Especially those in Upper Sixth (for the English sub-system) and Terminale (for the French sub-system). They are about to leave high school for the university. They hence ask themselves a lot of questions such as:

  • What will I do after this? Further my education or find a job.
  • How do I even go about it?

What a student should do after this depends on so many factors that will boil down to a rather very specific form of counselling. Hence, we will not discuss that here and now but later. As a result, as well, we will focus on how to go about both options.

How do I even go about getting a job?

  1. If you are still indecisive, don't waste the Holidays, get into a computer center. There is always something new to learn. (Trust me.)
  2. You could start by learning a trade immediately after high school from the general sector. Maybe tailoring, hair dressing, aluminum works etc.
  3. If you are a Cameroonian, you could enlist for the Military, Police force or Gendarmerie.
  4. You could start a small business.
  5. You can actually be a 'marketer' for any telecommunication company. I mean help sell their products. It can give you some money to start something better.

How do I even go about furthering my studies?

At this stage, the best thing is to write an entrance exam into a professional school (Engineering, Medical, Agricultural, Business etc).

Tentative dates for all these concours already exist but are awaiting official launching. Some engineering concours have been launched already.

You have to start by deciding which of the offered field you would like to find yourself in. Then, getting information is paramount. You are already running out of time if you have not yet chosen one of the fields that the nation can offer.

Nonetheless, some Engineering concours have been launched. This is seemingly quite early as the GCE Advanced Level have just started with their Practical sessions and haven't began with the theoretical session of the exam. More surprisingly, at least one of these exams will be written while some student are actually still writing their A-Level exams.

As a reminder, the Cameroon GCE advanced Level exams will concluded by the 12 of July according to the G6 form released by the CGCE Board to the public, earlier this academic year. It is also worth noting that no modification has been made till date.

Notwithstanding, the University Institute of Technology of Douala (IUT-Douala) have scheduled their entrance exam for the 12 of July 2022. (Date signed at the top right, Evaluation date at the bottom of the picture)

To this effect some students of the English sub-system of education will be able to go for this exam. Even if the Writing date for such competitive exams (CONCOURS) are changed, will the students have ample time to prepare?

on the other hand, the institutions might not be completely to blame. Almost every educational system in the world at this point in time is facing back lashes due to the corona outbreak. The population just hopes that everything changes the soonest possible.
